The Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) offers numerous trade programs with a strong emphasis on hands-on training and industry connections. Many programs, such as Electrical Construction Technology and various apprenticeship programs (Carpentry, Ironworker, Plumber, Sheet Metal Worker), are run in partnership with local trade unions and Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees (JATCs), providing students with both classroom instruction and on-the-job experience. CCAC also has a partnership with Duquesne Light Company for its Electrical Distribution Technology program, which prepares students for utility industry positions and includes hands-on and on-the-job training. Additionally, the nursing program utilizes nearby hospitals for clinical instruction, preparing students for the NCLEX-RN examination.
